Job Description

To start with, the position of Global Procurement Director Technical & Logistics is a member of our Procurement Leadership team, which is part of Global Supply organization. The Procurement function is on the journey to a Worlds Class Procurement Organization delivering against JDE Peet’s Business ambition. Key responsibilities of the function is to deliver the most competitive cost & cash base, to create top line value by building and managing a strong supplier base, and to champion a culture of pride and performance in the Procurement team. As a Global Procurement Director Technical & Logistics you will be responsible for a strategic direction and delivery of  best in class results in the following categories: Capex, MRO, Energy, Ocean Freight and Port Handing, Inbound and Inland Transportation, Warehousing & Distribution, Co-Packing and Pallets Management. 

For this, we don’t just need you to be a knowledgeable professional but also strongly rely on your interpersonal skills as well as your drive for success. Know that you’ll have a crucial role in creating and protecting the impact we look for in our value chain. With this said, we like you to take responsibility over the following tasks: 

  • Build, lead and coach a high performing team (8-10  buyers and procurement managers) to create and implement category sourcing plans that quickly deliver tangible results  

  • Ensure development and execution of robust sourcing strategies, supply and price risk mitigation strategies, Productivity accomplishments via various strategic sourcing initiatives, supplier development and supplier relationship management program 

  • Identify and prioritize opportunities to deliver total cost of ownership savings in your categories and drive the implementation of the plans to capture those opportunities. 

  • Build effective relationships engaging with stakeholders across functions and country business units that maximize value and drive continuous improvement 

  • Proactively manage supplier relationships to deliver cost & cash results, to drive continuous improvement and position JDE Peet’s as a customer of choice 

Qualifications

We are looking for an excellent track record of delivering “best in class cost and cash results”. Someone that holds themselves accountable and doesn’t shy away from responsibility. Given the nature of the role we feel it's important for you to have strong ability to manage vision and purpose and set the strategic framework for the function. We thrive in diverse teams and look for people that appreciate that as much as we do. We can give you a list of “must haves,” however that’s not how we view your candidacy. We do, of course, take into consideration how much experience you have with in a worldwide procurement environment and direct material procurement responsibility as well as a solid understanding of your own added value, but ultimately, we look at the bigger picture. But to give you a bit of guidance as to what we feel is needed in this role, we’ll share our “nice to have” list with you: 

  • Experience with state-of-the-art risk management tools,  

  • Experience with strategic sourcing models and  supplier management programs 

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills. 

  • The ability to thrive with ambiguity and change
